Ancient Spirits Speak: Bow Making Class
Traditionally, Kumeyaay/Diegueño people would make their bows out of Oak, Elderberry, Mesquite, Willow, and in some cases Juniper trees. They would also use agave fiber or sinew to make draw strings for their bows. Usually, a basic bow could take several weeks or even months to construct, but in this class, participants will learn how to shape and craft the perfect bow. Instructor Willie Pink (Pala) will discuss the proper materials and techniques for making this essential tool.
Space is limited! Please call the Museum to prepay for the class. Must be 16 years or older.
